Son, there are incalculable benefits for the souls in the beyond when prayers are offered for them. And when they are released from their places of purification, in gratitude, they will ceaselessly pray for you and your intentions that are in accord with my will. Continue doing this good work son. Your perseverance will be rewarded.
Personal Note: For years now, it has become a devotion for me to pray for the souls of the departed after each mass. There are quite a number of names that include my departed parents, siblings, uncles, aunts, cousins, friends, former officemates, townmates and especially those who helped me one way or another in life. To the later, I can't forget even the littlest good thing they did for me which I always acknowledge as an act of Love which I am now repaying them. Each day that passes brings all of you closer to the time when all of earth shall vibrate in the fullness of life....a new recreated earth. How I wish I could simply proceed with my plan without the earth undergoing massive changes but this cannot be so...for there is much filth that needs to be cleansed. How I wish the purification could be avoided for I do not take pleasure in the death of my human creation. How I wish for everyone to enter into New World but how many will listen to my words for them to prepare, cleanse their souls of the dirt of sin and abandon a life that in many occasions contradict my law of love. How many will become new persons by coming to me thru my Son Jesus in true repentance like what the people of Nineveh in Jonah's time did? . Am I to about to allow the beginning of the great earth changes? I said, look for the signs.
